Migrating Vegetables & Capital X

Why is it that avocado in the middle of the bathroom floor seems normal when you have a small child living in the house?

Draya had a tummy-ache at daycare today from eating some of my elephant ear and mini doughnuts on the Midway yesterday. She still ate two helpings at lunch and a big snack at 3:30 though so it can't have been that bad.
We had fun at Capital X last night with I & G & L and then with S & A.
The kids area was okay but not spectacular. There were very few free things for little kids to do. Toddler Town was a bust. I was disappointed that they didn't have the petting zoo back. We did however have fun in the 'Family Farm'. Here are some cute photos of Draya riding a John Deer tractor. My cousin would be so proud!

IKEA!

We went on Thursday and Draya had LOTS of fun! She climbed into the toddler beds and lay down to sleep. She tried to jump on the adult beds (I stopped that fast!) & she loved the kid sized chairs and tables especially the Poang. She played with other kids and enjoyed some of the play stations located around the store. In the children's department she played and played with the rocking moose and the swivel armchair. She even crawled through the tunnel. We went a little overboard & bought her a toy crane, a toy box, some storage boxes and a tent. Auntie L bought her an abacus and a teddy bear. We also bought mommy & daddy a new bed frame, dishes and cutlery. Yay IKEA!! Now we're saving for a new table and chairs...

Who is this little water hater and what has she done with Draya??

Yesterday, when I dropped Draya off at daycare, I told the ladies there that she would probably enjoy splashing in the wading pools with the big kids because she LOVES water. Usually, she LOVES water. Usually she has fun in her baths and LOVES the various water tables that our friend's children own. Usually...
The little monkey made a liar out of mommy. She DIDN'T want to go in the wadinging pools. Even water in the tray of her highchair wasn't fun.
And, she has screamed all the way through her last 2 baths again; wouldn't sit, clung to me, and tried to climb out.
I can' t think of any recent water related traumas that wound cause her to react this way. The ladies at daycare suggest that it's just another phase. Sigh, just when I think I've got her figured she goes and changes her preferences. :)

Teething, Coughing & Toothpaste

Draya is getting her top molars. She has been teething for quite a while now as they slowly force their way through her gums. Last night as she was throwing her head back and screaming in pain I got a good look at the little culprits. Need less to say we gave her Motrin.
The OTHER reason she was up for two hours in the middle of the night last night is the cough she currently has. She has a bit if a chesty-rattle so we know there’s some phlegm there and the cough comes and goes. It’s been getting worse though, interrupting her sleep and shortening her naptime. We are watching her closely for other symptoms (fever) but so far none have appeared.
This morning she was in a surprisingly good mood. I let her sleep a little later so she wasn’t hungry for ‘real’ food after her milk. She insisted on taking our toothpaste tube with her to the car but lost interest once she was buckled in. She can’t twist the top off yet (thankfully). If she could I wouldn’t have let her take it.
She IS getting very good at following simple requests. “Go put your shoes on”, “find mommy’s necklace”, “come into the kitchen”, etc…
We have to be VERY careful near stairs these days though because she want to walk down them like a big girl instead of turning around and going down on her tummy. She knows that she’s not to take a step down until she is holding some ones hand and she tries to use the handrail but she’s just to short! I still know that one of these days she’s going to try on her own again and take a spill.
Speaking of lumps and bumps, Draya has a bit of a bruise next to her left eye these days from where the cuddle rocker at daycare ‘attacked’ her. Her face is at the same height as its arm and she rocked it into herself while heading or a toy. It was totally and accident. It can’t have hurt her very badly though as she wouldn’t let her teacher put a cold compress on it, she just wanted to go and play again.
Yes, my little bundle of energy is always on the go. Last Friday she walked for 3 long blocks on Whyte Ave while holding my hand. The only reason I had to pick her up was that she tried to go into a restaurant. When got to the coffee shop where we were meeting our friends she still wanted to roam… no rest for the Draya… or the mommy & daddy.

Draya had a very busy weekend!

On Saturday she went to D & G's for a BBQ where she had fun playing in Z's new water table,

and playing with M's rollerskates.

Later, after changing out of her soggy clothes, she tried wearing M's wrist guard for a shoe.

Then, she took a rest next to the garden (Possibly one of my very favourite photos ever!!)


On Sunday Nana & Papa came to visit. In the evening, when the weather got nicer, Draya went out to play on the wonderful play set that Nana bought for her a few weeks ago. She loves to go down (and up) the slide...

...and so much more!

Big Little Feet

Draya has been wearing size 3 dress & running shoes for a while now. I was, however, squeezing her feet into size two sandals until about a month and a half ago. Then, we hit a consingment store and picked her up some size 3 Winnie The Pooh sandals (and some really nice blue jean ones too). A few weeks ago the Pooh sandals went missing at L & M's so 2 weekends ago we hit another shop and purchased some size 4's for her to "grow into". Funny thing, the size 3 Pooh's have resurfaced but they are now to small for her. Her little toes hang over the front edge. I think her feet grew while they were away.! The jean ones still fit okay (they seemed a little bigger to begin with) and now most of the size 4's fit okay. Ahh... the inconsistencies of children's feet. When it gets to cold for sandals we're going to have to pick up some other new shoes too I guess... but I'll wait and see what size she actually is then before I purchase any!

Diapering Da Bear

Tonight while I was folding Draya's clean diapers she stole one out of the dryer and proceeded to try putting it on Angel Bear. For those of you who have never met him, Angel Bear is a beanie baby, so he's not very big. Then, she tried putting her new sandals on his little feet at the same time. How adorable is that?!

Busy Long Weekend

Mommy worked for 23 hours on Saturday & Sunday so Draya spent a LOT of time with Daddy. They did come down to visit Mommy on Saturday though. Here's a picture if Draya celebrating Canada's 139th Birthday.
She had great fun meeting all of the Street Performers and seeing Uncle Ninja perform with his a cappella group.

Today we have been relaxing at home before we go out for games tonight. Draya has been wearing the new dress Mommy bought for her yesterday. Here she is playing dress-up with Mommy's pretty necklace.
Followed by a rousing game of peek-a-boo behind the bedroom curtains.
