Her Fuzzy Friend

Draya has formed an attachment with something fuzzy. No, it's not a stuffed animal, a blanket or even a cat, it's mommy's purple scarf. She loves to hold it, wrap herself up in it and, here's the problem, bite it and pull on it. Unfortunately the little fibers it's made of come out quite easily and she could accidentally ingest them and/ or ruin the scarf. I've hidden it for now but here are some really cute photos of her playing with it...

An odd but quality moment

This morning, after trying to mimic my reading of a Vue Weekly, Draya wandered out of the wash room and into the hall. I could hear a crunch crunch sound and though she had takes a chunk of the Vue to tear up (tearing paper, a favourite pass time). But when I went to check on her the crunch crunch was actually coming from the Baby Mum-Mum package she had pulled out of her diaper bag and was crawling around with. She followed me back into the bathroom, climbed up to the tub and dropped in the Mum-Mums. I fished them out, sat with her on the stair to the tub and opened the package. They had all broken into perfect bite sized pieces so we quietly sat there and shared them.

Water baby

We took the kids to the ACT pool tonight. Draya had great fun standing & swimming in the warm "teach pool" with J & Izzy & Gemma. She's such a little fish! Loves to splash, although not as much as J does. We were in for about an hour and a half and were all quite pruney afterwards. Funny, you'd think she's be tired after all of that exercise but after napping in the car she's still a bundle of energy at almost 10:30 pm. Mommy's getting tired though!

On the heath front

Draya went to the Dr. for her 1 year check-up today. She weighed in at 19.5 lbs, 28.5 inches long. I guess all the food we've been stuffing into for the past week and a half has had some effect:)
The Dr. would like her to drink more fluids but other than that she's happy and healthy. She is now in the 25th percentile for a 1 year old, not adjusted.
As a part of her examination they had to draw blood for a blood test. As soon as the tech wrapped the rubber band around her arm she started to cry. It took two techs four tries before they could find a vein. No they didn't poke her each time but she still HATED it. When they finally did use the needle she cried even harder. Not a fun experience, poor peanut. Can't wait till we have to take a urine sample tomorrow morning.
A hard day at the Dr. and an evening spent playing with Z meant munchkin was pretty tuckered out. She dropped off to sleep in mommy's lap between 8:30 & 9, dozed though a diaper change and conked out quickly in her bed. Now it's mommy's turn to follow.

Jello Girl

Draya had a busy weekend meeting "new" relatives and visiting with others that she already knew and loved. Happy 60th Birthday Nana! We took lots of great photos but here's one of my favourites... baby discovered jello and boy did she like it!

A quick baby update

There's not a lot of time for updating Draya's Diary these days. The munchkin and life have been keeping us quite busy.
Draya went for her 2nd day of day care on Tuesday. She was pretty fussy. Cried and fussed and slept most of the time she was there. She didn't want to eat or drink much. Hopefully once she gets more comfortable this too shall pass. I guess the music we sent with her relaxed her somewhat when they played it. I've been playing the same CD as I feed her to sleep for the past few nights. It's a nice one my aunt gave us for x'mas as part of a set. It relaxes me too.
I'm taking her back tomorrow for an extra day this week. We'll see how it goes.
She is little miss explorer these days. Getting into everything. She's also had a bit of a cold and has been quite snotty.
Daddy took her in to be immunized on Monday. She weighed in at 18lbs 13 oz, clothes on. She's growing pretty slowly and it doesn't help that a lot of her food ends up on her instead if in her now that she's helping to feed herself. Oh well, she might be in the 20th percentile size wise now but she's still pretty happy and healthy.
Oh, the princess demands attention. It's time for bed.

Snow Baby

Ever since it (finally) snowed last week I've been wanting to take a few photos of Draya playing outside. I finally managed to snap a few shots last night as we were heading out to E&S's. She didn't really play though, just sat there an watched her daddy shovel the back stairs. Maybe I'll take her out again later today, if it's not to cold.

Daycare Blues

So Draya's first day at daycare yesterday started of well... She dived into playing and exploring and barely noticed when I left. She took a nap in the stroller when they went for a walk in the morning and ate lunch well. But... at about 1:00 she got tired and started to cry. Three different ladies tried rocking/cuddling her to sleep. One almost succeeded but then a sound from the main room woke her again and she started to sob. Finally just after 2 they called me. So I went and picked her up. Next week I'm going to bring in a sweater or article of clothing that smells like me. And a few of her favourite stuffed animals. We might also try playing music at nap time. Something to set a comfy, relaxing environment that they can duplicate at the daycare.
We might also look into sending her twice a week. Once a week might not be enough to get her climatized to it. We'll see. The people there are really great and the kids she's with are close to her age (13 months & 14 months). I knew that napping could end up being an issue. She's so used to going full tilt then conking out on mom or dad. And she does get cranky/fussy when she's tired.

Draya's Birthday Weekend - Part Two

Sunday, March 5th
First we went to Nana & Papa's for brunch, presents, exploring the cat tree, playing the piano and angel food cake...






And then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner, more presents, lots of play, and chocolate cake...






And then we went to Auntie T.'s for the tail end of an Oscar Party.
It was a very busy day!!

Draya's Birthday Weekend - Part One

Draya opened a present from Mommy & Daddy in the morning. Then she threw an open house birthday in the afternoon and evening for all of her friends. She had a lot of fun!

This explains a lot

It's not one or two teeth coming in on her top gums, its four!
One just broke through, one is about to, and two are hovering just underneath as well.
So that's why she's been so fussy!

On another note: Her bath last night went much better.
