Mommy's little baker

Draya LOVES baking cookies with Mommy. She samples every step, from just margarine to fresh out of the oven. She also helps pour ingredients into the bowl and stir. Usually we make various chippit combinations. Tonight we made white/dark/milk chocolate ones for Draya's Daycare Christmas party tomorrow night.

One step forward... two steps back

A few weeks ago we took Draya's booster seat out of the basement for B to use. Draya decided that she wanted to start using it again and has been ever since.
She has also stopped using the potty before each bath and hasn't tinkled on it in weeks.
On the other hand she uses sippy cups only rarely now... instead insisting that her milk and juice come in open plastic cups. This of course makes it easier for her to practice her latest hobby... food chemistry/soup making.

Migrating Vegetables & Capital X

Why is it that avocado in the middle of the bathroom floor seems normal when you have a small child living in the house?

Draya had a tummy-ache at daycare today from eating some of my elephant ear and mini doughnuts on the Midway yesterday. She still ate two helpings at lunch and a big snack at 3:30 though so it can't have been that bad.
We had fun at Capital X last night with I & G & L and then with S & A.
The kids area was okay but not spectacular. There were very few free things for little kids to do. Toddler Town was a bust. I was disappointed that they didn't have the petting zoo back. We did however have fun in the 'Family Farm'. Here are some cute photos of Draya riding a John Deer tractor. My cousin would be so proud!

Her latest accomplishments

This week Draya started blowing kisses at mommy & going to the fridge to let us know she wants her sippy cup of milk. She has stopped eating cereal in the mornings (she just wouldn't take it all week) and instead has cheerios and 1/2 an orange. She is getting better at feeding herself with a spoon. She can get it into her mouth just fine but still has trouble with the scooping motion. This morning she repeated the word 'stars' when I pointed out the ones we have stuck to her change table.

Tales from Boston Pizza

So we went to BP's last night and I ordered a taco salad. My darling daughter loves garlic toast, taco chips, cheese and olives so I gave her some of each. We all start eating, I look over and there she is holding up her hands and grinning with a little black olive on each of her pointer fingers. Well, olive holes are the perfect size for tiny fingers you know!
She also had great fun with the toy fire truck that the waiter gave her to play with later. I felt a little sorry for the people sitting near us though as she found the button that made the "wee ohh, wee ohh" sound pretty quickly! Good thing that sat us in a corner... smart BP's staff!

A mess with a middle eastern flair

Tonight we leaned that
a) Draya really likes couscous
b) couscous is much messier than rice
c) sticking sneakily to a baby's clothing, couscous is easily tracked ALL over the house
d) it might be time to start encouraging Draya to eat with a spoon more often instead of with her fingers

He He He, she likes garlic!
I was feeding Draya the underside of the toast at dinner and then figured
"what the heck". She gobbled up chunks of the garlicy side quite
happily! She does love to be hand fed and would probably take cat food
if I offered it but she probably wouldn't take 2nds, 3rds and 4ths.
(Although you never know, I quite enjoyed Tender Vittles when I was 4 -
no I'm NOT going to offer her any thought:) It's not surprising really.
Garlic is my favourite spice and I cook with it extensively. She has probably detected at least a hint of it in her milk before.
As for the the rest of life around this house... I slept an extra hour this
morning and 3 hours this afternoon. Had some weird dreams that I might
blog about later. Jugglepants had an SP gig so his dad came over to
babysit. Brought me Arbys, yum, & baby liked the roast beef too. I feel better
but I still need to blow my nose every 10 minutes or so and the cough
still rears its ugly head occasionally. I think I'll drink lots of
peppermint tea and orange juice tonight!
Baby seems to be pretty much over her illness though. Yay! (touch wood)
