Spending a day in Galaxyland

I won two WEM All Attractions Passes at work about a month ago. Friday I took the day off work and took Draya on her first visit to Galaxyland. We had a blast! The nice thing was that I only needed to use one pass as with a small child the grownup (taller) chaperon rides free on most rides. And ride the rides we did. We rode every single ride that a 42" person could go on - which is actually quite a few. Most we rode at least twice, some three times and a few four. I even took her on the galleon (which cost me six bucks because the chaperon doesn't ride free on that one - but how could I say no). I am so glad that she's a ride lover. She didn't even complain too much when told that she was "still to short to ride the mind bender but if she kept eating lots of vegetables mommy in order to grow would happily ride it with her someday."
We had burgers in the food court for dinner. I finally pried her out of the amusement park around 7:30 so that we could hit Zellers and buy her Dora toothpaste, princess bubble bath and a lovely princess Halloween costume. My second pass is good until Dec 20, I'm sure we'll be going back before then.

Bumper cars! She had a little trouble steering and pushing the gas pedal together but eventually figured it out.

Flower Girl

On Sept 6 Draya was give the opportunity to be flower girl at our friend S & D's wedding. We didn't get a chance to rehearse so she was a little shy as she stood at the end of the aisle.


I had to take the basket of leaves from her and shake them onto the floor while I coaxed Draya down the aisle with a handful of Smarties.


Midway through the ceremony she decided that it would be a god idea to pick up all of the leaves.


And the she scattered them in front of S & D while they walked out of the room instead.


We went to the legislature ground to take formal photos. Draya was quite taken by the fountains.




Of course she had to toss some leaves into the water.


Thankfully she posed nicely with the bride and groom.


And Mommy and Daddy too.


At the reception S & D would kiss if people put money in a glass. Draya put in a twonie.


Draya brought Polly as her 'date'. She got a little sleepy before dinner. Although contrary to the photo she never did actually nap.


At about 8:30 I changed her into jammies and she took out her colourng.


But then she discovered the dance floor and boogied the night away.

Fringe 2008

Fringe 2008 was a great success. Draya came down to the site 4 times, saw 4 indoor shows and a few outdoor shows too. She had her face painted 3 times with multi-coloured hearts and ate lots of snacks in VHQ.

Draya had loads of fun playing with M in the beer tent. Yes, they let minors in until 6 p.m. and we're very glad that they do. It was a good place to sit and eat and relax... as much a Draya would let us relax.
Mommy was volunteering a lot so Draya spent some time hanging out in VHQ. Here she colours while mommy works.

There were hula-hoops to play with at kids Fringe.

Draya and J met each other and hit in off when they met each other at the end of the week. Here they are playing with the Kids Fringe parachute together. J's mom is also a team leader. J is a wonderful volunteer and I hope that she'll be a good influence on Draya at future festivals.

A Trip to the Farmers Market

Today we took Draya to the downtown Farmers Market. We bought all kinds of cool and yummy treats, including some tasty Indian ice cream.

Draya Does Devon

Draya went to Devon Days with Nana & Papa this past Friday.

There was lots of yummy food. For dinner Draya had a taco & for dessert she enjoyed lemonade and mini dough nuts.


On the midway she rode her first 'spinny' ride.


She also enjoyed driving a truck.



She and Nana fished for lizzards,

and rode the train together.

Draya rode the trian twice. The second time she got to ring the bell!

She rode the fishy ride twice too.

That night we camped with Nana & Papa in their 5th wheel. Nana bough Draya some new jammies and a toothbrush. Here she models both while jumping on her bed.

On Saturday Draya went to see The Little Mermaid at Horizon Stage.

Playtime with Cousin Graham

Draya loves playing with her cousin Graham.
On Sunday, April 5th he came over and we baby sat him for a while...
Draya was being especially silly, she kept covering her eyes and she wouldn't look at the camera.

But she finally smiled for Daddy when we let the two of them play with water in the sink.

On Tuesday, April 15th Uncle R returned the babysitting favour so that Mommy & Daddy could go and see MacHomer. Here are some photos that he took while she was at their house...

Snowmen in April

This being Alberta, we has a snowstorm today. So of course Draya and I went outside and built a snowman.

And then, because we had the time and energy, we built an entire snow family. A Mommy, a sister, and a baby. I think the Daddy was off at work or something:)
