Draya Does NOT Approve

Yesterday Daddy tried to put Draya down for a nap in our bed. Would she go down? No... she stood on the bed yelling "I do not approve" over and over. Nap time does not meet the princess's approval!

Scary Spider

At B & L's BD party today, Draya had lots of fun playing with all of the other little kids. Until our friend P came into the living room wearing his Spiderman costume. She was terrified!! She insisted we go home! Even after P took of the mask. She's not afraid of the picture of Spiderman on her place mat - just of the real, live, walking & talking version. P felt so bad... but what can you do?

Telus World of Science

GG'ma & GG'pa arrived in Edmonton last night. So, today Mommy took the day off work and we took Draya to the Telus World of Science...

First we went to the Eco Backyard exhibit. Draya visited the fish in the pond at least 5 times, if not more.

Next we went to the Egyptian Lego exhibit. It was really cool!

Then, after a quick snack, we went to the Discovery exhibit. This was Draya's favourite part. She enjoyed climbing on and building with the blocks.

And running up and down the giant piano.

But she liked the interactive water features best of all!



After we had lunch she simply had to test drive all of the video games located near the cafe. She is SO her father's daughter! :)

As we were getting ready to leave she was fascinated by the gravity well in the lobby. She must have tossed close to $1.00 worth of Mommy & Nana's small change into it.

A Short Trip to Calgary

This past Saturday we drove down to Calgary. Daddy had an audition on Sunday morning so we decided to make a little family vacation of it.
On the way down we stopped at E & S's and met A's new baby brother M.

We got to D & G's at 5pm. Before dinner the guys & I took the girls to the park.




After dinner we gave Draya & Z a bath together. Too cute!!

On Sunday morning we went to the Farmers Market while Daddy went to his audition. When he got back I snapped this photo.

We then went to my cousin S & S's for lunch. Draya got to see GG'ma & GG'pa, who were also in Calgary and play at another playground with her cousin C.



All in all it was a great trip!!

Draya's First Snowman

It snowed here last Tuesday (April 10). Draya and I built her first snowman when we got home from work/daycare. We had a blast! I had to snap this photo quickly though because she kept trying to eat his nose & eyes.

Draya also had great fun scooping the clean white snow up in her shovel and eating it!

One step forward... two steps back

A few weeks ago we took Draya's booster seat out of the basement for B to use. Draya decided that she wanted to start using it again and has been ever since.
She has also stopped using the potty before each bath and hasn't tinkled on it in weeks.
On the other hand she uses sippy cups only rarely now... instead insisting that her milk and juice come in open plastic cups. This of course makes it easier for her to practice her latest hobby... food chemistry/soup making.

Easter Weekend Update

As the Easter weekend draws to a close our whole family is ready to go back to work and daycare. Daddy is starting a new temp job and Mommy and Draya will be back in Spruce Grove after an almost 2 week hiatus. Some relaxed moments have been enjoyed, some partying has been done and a few productive things have been accomplished. Maybe not everything we had planned to do... but some.
On Friday night Draya & Mommy visited Nana. Nana gave Draya a wonderful velcro vegetable set(like this - without the fruit) that she has been playing with/scattering all over the house all weekend. It's great!
Saturday we celebrated J's 2nd BD and visited with H & T and our other friends who were party guests. Much fun was had by all - especially the children who had loads of cool toys to play with!
Easter Sunday dawned and Draya enjoyed a few chocolate eggs and some of her favourite Pocky. The Easter bunny also brought a wonderful (rather messy) bubble wand/toy, Shrek & Shrek 2. Since it was a special day we watched both movies, the first in the morning and the second that night. Draya absolutely loves the Shrek 3 trailer on line and she actually sat and watched each movie most of the way through. She only lost interest for a while during the second one when Shrek turned into a man... she's an ogre fan.
During the afternoon on Sunday we went to Grandma & Grandpa's for a nice Easter lunch and visit. Draya received a belated birthday gift from her Uncle Dave - a Duplo Thomas the Train - Percy at the Water Tower that is really neat and some Easter stickers, markers and paints from Grandma that were also a big hit.
Today we all went shopping. Draya was mostly well behaved but Mommy & Daddy were still exhausted after the excursion. One of the things we purchased was the main Thomas the Train set to go with her Percy. It is so cute and we're going to have fun playing with it too :)

Draya Strikes Again!

Time for a quick update

I was only gone for five days but a swear Draya seems to have grown-up a little bit. She is talking more coherently and listening a little bit better. She was quite well behaved at the airport when she and Daddy came to pick me up and have lunch yesterday. She liked the airplanes.
The two of them had lots of fun while I was gone, swimming and visiting Grandma & Grandpa. She did miss me but only every once in a while.
Sometimes Draya does the cutest/oddest things. Yesterday at dinner she kept pouring milk on the back of her hand, slurping it off, and then wiping her hand with a cloth... over and over again...
She also enjoys racing mommy from one side of the kitchen to the other.
In the tub Draya likes it when I squirt foamy soap on her toes... over and over again...
She also still loves to sing. Right now Head & Shoulders is her favourite - she breaks into it often.
Every night Draya & I climb into bed and read Sandra Boynton's Pajama Time - twice. She likes to point out who all of the animals are and what they say... "Sheep - baa, Lion - roar, Pig - oink". She has also recently been enjoying Hey Wake Up (same animals) Lizzy's Lion, You're My Little Love Bug (which also plays music), Clifford's Best Friend and many more of the other wonderful books in her collection. I am so glad to be raising a reader!
